Curiosity Brought Me Here
I see myself as generally a creative person in everything I do, but it's not every single day that I can pick up my camera and create cool concepts I'd be happy about. Sometimes I have no idea where my creativity has gone off to. Even during a shoot, occasionally I would feel a bit unmotivated when my mind isn't as innovative as I wanted it to be. I don't always feel actively ingenious nor do I always feel certain about what to do next. I enjoy my weeks off of doing nothing! Actually, to be honest I'm extremely passionate about that! But I don't sit around twirling my thumbs, waiting for creativity to strike me. I've stopped living those days!
I try to work consistently even if I feel like a blank wall. It's become a proven fact that humans have the ability to continuously create things for as long as we live; It's a scientific proof, I googled it here. So I keep working because I trust that creativity is out there and it's always searching for creators even when they've lost sight of it. I learned this through an inspiring book called "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert. (Must read for all creators)
So how do you find the inspiration to work when your creativity has flagged?
Curiosity.
I trust and depend on curiosity; It is the foundation for everything we do in life. Steve Jobs didn't create the first Apple product because he knew it would be a success. He was curious where his invention would go and that was the initial start to his trillion dollar company. Not that everything you create out of curiosity will be as successful as the Apple iPhone (although it could be) however if you treat every project the same way as he did, you might find the same success.
Don't get me wrong though, just because you are curious doesn't mean you're automatically going to become some demiurgic artist who creates masterpieces with a snap of a finger. We are not all born like Thanos and his gauntlet. Curiosity is the start of it though. And how you choose to use it will be the result of your success.
Put it this way, imagine putting in the same amount of work towards your goals to every time you googled something you were curious about. You'd probably be just like Bill Gates! (in retrospect to Steve Jobs)
If you are a curious soul, you are already 99.9% more successful than those who are not!
