Being adventurous doesn't mean you have to travel far. Although it's Ideal, I understand that traveling is a priviledge that many people don't get to have. The good news is that there are other ways to stay adventurous.

Ya see, being adventurous is a lifestyle. It's an attitude equipped with spontaneity. It's not a trait you were born with, however can be picked up anytime in your life. When I'm talking about living an aventurous life, understand that I am not necessarily talking about pursuing a life that is devoted to travel. What I mean by that is live a life that is driven more strongly by curiosity than by fear.

I've always considered myself to be three things in life; a creative soul, a survivor, and an adventurer. Not quite sure when I decided to live this lifestyle but it almost became second nature to me. Heck, my childhood was awesome; filled with various rhythms and patterns that brought repeated bursts of adrenaline. I grew up in a lower class family so traveling wasn't something we could do all of the time. But sneaking out after dark, exploring neighborhood sewers, riding our bikes miles and miles pass town; all of that was adventure. Doing things that require a journey of lessons is adventure.

Being adventurous is a way of saying “I want to see the world.” Step outside your door today with the intention to seek and see what happens. You might end up at a cool coffee shop, a new hiking trail, heck you might even meet new and interesting people!

Many people make the mistake of saying, “I have a full-time job.” or “Work makes me too tired.” Quite frankly, I think all of that is a just ONE FAT excuse phrased in fancy words. If you've got thirty minutes to spare, you've got thirty minutes of adventure; Read an interesting article, go for a walk in unfamiliar trails, try that weird fruit you walk pass at the grocery store! Adventure doesn’t always mean you need to travel!

Now lets remind ourselves how important it is to stay adventurous…

  1. Keeps you motivated to do extraordinary things!

  2. It expands your mind to be open to different cultures!

  3. Part of venturing can lead to failure. Failure usually means success. Success means growth. Adventure is about growth. And growth is a part of life!

  4. Personally, I think it keeps you creative!

  5. Gives us a larger perspective of value in time! (Adventure interrupts our everyday routine! Lets live a life where we stop dwelling on time! No more “Wow, can’t believe this year is almost over!”)

  6. Ultimately, it keeps you happier!

  7. Adventure gives you experiences in physical and emotional attributes of any given situation!

  8. It keeps you awake and when you’re awake, you’re more prone to get things done!

  9. Whether you go alone or with a group of people, it gives you an opportunity to grow stronger bonds with yourself, with others, and with the world!

  10. Adventure can be dangerous, uncomfortable, and scary. But all of that is a part of learning. Do something you’re scared of everyday! In the end, you’ll find it fun!

I can go on and on about this list but ultimately, you don’t need a list of reasons to persuade you to stay adventurous. In fact you don't need a reason at all. Like Nike said, “Just do it!” Go live your life!

So to conclude, lets turn off all notifications, put away your laptops, quit dwelling on pictures you see on the internet, and get out there! Remember that adventure doesn’t always have to mean you need to travel far to do something extraordinary. Doing something different everyday that will interrupt your daily routine is just enough. Say yes to coffee, ride that bull, go on that road trip for the weekend; Those are just a few more simple but living ideas that can spark up an adventure. What are you waiting for!!?
